membership
Romans 12:4-5 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.
The mission we have to Set Captives Free is a huge responsibility. And, honestly, to truly chase after it, we need more and more people committed to Jesus and invested in the mission to reach the world with the Gospel message. Church membership is not some exclusive club for only the best Christians. Membership is an opportunity to intentionally commit to the mission and vision of the body of Christ. It’s not about privilege or access, it’s about unity and accountability. The mission is big, but together we can link arms and be part of a special movement God wants to do in us and through us.
does ransom even have membership?
Yep! But, if you are familiar with church membership elsewhere, it may not look like you are used to. Membership here is not about special treatment or taking votes, membership is all about linking arms together in the mission to Set Captives Free. It’s about accountability and a commitment to worship free, live free, and serve free.
i am already actively involved in this church, why should i become a member?
The real question is, why not become a member?! To be honest, you can be an AMAZING part of this church without being a member. BUT, membership is so valuable because it allows us to be completely on the same page about how to be teammates in our mission to Set Captives Free. It allows us to hold one another accountable, and it allows you to confidently engage with your role as a member of this body of Christ.
do i have to be baptized to be a member?
Yes, and no. On the one hand, we do ask that you publicly affirm your relationship with Jesus through baptism before becoming a member. However, that does NOT mean it has to look a certain way or happen in a certain place. If you were baptized somewhere else, or a long time ago, you probably don’t need to be baptized again at Ransom – rather, we want to celebrate the amazing moments of your journey wherever they have taken place! We are all part of a bigger movement of God, so let’s keep chasing it together.
are there special privileges to being a member of ransom church?
Absolutely! Just to name a few, you are entitled to free parking, free coffee, and free seating at all of our Sunday gatherings! (spoiler alert – EVERYONE gets that stuff for free!). Practically speaking, it may not seem like there are special privileges to membership here – no special access or new opportunities or preferential treatment. However, membership is special to us because it’s your way of letting us know you are all in on this mission to Set Captives Free.

meaning of membership.
What does it mean to be a member of a church? Is it about special access or influence or privilege? Is it an exclusive club only for the best Christians? At Ransom Church, we take a different approach. For us, membership is all about accountability, ownership, and partnership in the mission we have to Set Captives Free. Every person is unique, and every church has a unique way God wants them to live out the Great Commission and spread the Gospel. Membership at Ransom Church is a commitment to live out our core values to worship free, live free, and serve free. If you call this church home and want to take your next step in commitment to our mission of Setting Captives Free to be all God made them to be, we want you to consider becoming a member. It takes all of us bringing together our unique experiences and talents and passions to truly be all God wants us to be. Membership simply allows us to be fully unified as we follow Jesus and live out the mission to Set Captives Free.
